Dr. Cheng is a forensic neuropsychologist trained at Stanford and Palo Alto University who has worked with a variety of populations. Soon after her postdoctoral training, she joined the Army and became a Captain serving in the military as a medical officer. There, she evaluated and treated soldiers with traumatic brain injuries and post traumatic stress disorder.

 

After a five-year commission, she retired from the Army and went on to spend 10 years working at a California state psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. Working with some of the most severely mentally ill patients, Dr. Cheng gained additional experience in the assessment and treatment of complex neuropsychiatric issues. During this time, she also served as a Consulting Neuropsychologist at St. Jude’s Medical Center’s Stroke/Brain Injury Unit, focusing on evaluations of stroke and brain injury patients.

 

In 2017, Dr. Cheng expanded her practice and became a Qualified Medical Examiner in California. She specializes in evaluating neuropsychiatric conditions stemming from neurological insults. Dr. Cheng is known for her articulate and jargon-free communication, making her a valuable asset in legal settings where clarity is paramount. Her work is consistently praised for its precision and accessibility - qualities that make her highly sought after by legal professionals.
